Description

Like cricket, croquet was also only on the Olympic programme in 1900.
Croquet is another bat and ball game which is played on grass. With a wooden mallet, one, two or four players must hit two balls through six hoops until the balls hit a peg. The first player to start tries to hit a ball through a hoop in one go. If he manages this he can continue. But if he misses, then it is the next player's turn. If the ball of one player hits that of another, then he will put his ball right next to the other ball, he will hold his own ball with his foot and hit it in such a manner that the opponent's ball will dash in the opposite direction. The one who passes through all of the hoops (from both directions) and hits the peg is the winner.
