This discipline was on the 1904 and 1908 Olympic programme.
Lacrosse is played on a 7000 square metre field. Two teams, each with ten men, use a stringed bat with which a rubber ball is caught, carried and thrown. The objective of the game, which last sixty minutes, is to throw the ball into the opponent's goal post. Only the goal-keeper may touch the ball with his hands. At the beginning of the match and after every point the game is resumed from the middle of the field. This game is especially played in Anglo-saxon countries.
